WHAT TO SEE

Points of interest in the vicinity of the refuge

Secular beech forest

Not far from the refuge, there is a monumental beech forest in a place called “Ortigara”. Continuing southwards you can reach “Malga Zocchi”, where you can admire Lake Garda: the view from here is spectacular.

"Madonna della Neve" Church

Built by the Marquises Carlotti in the 17th century, they found refuge here to escape the plague of 1630. Every year, on 5 August, the religious feast of the “Madonna della Neve” (Our Lady of the Snow) is celebrated.

Naole Fort

Continuing from the refuge towards the ridges, it is easy to reach the Naole Fort, located in the southern area of the “Bocchetta di Naole”. The fort was built by the Italians in 1913 as a support and defence point against a possible Austrian attack on the nearby border.

Cima Costabella and observatory

Cima Costabella is a privileged vantage point over the mountains surrounding the lake to the west and Lessinia to the east, the southern part of the lake and the Po Valley to the south. On the ridges of Costabella it is possible to stop at a small masonry observatory with indications of all the surrounding peaks.
